Project overview
An editorial system built around content.
The NZMA publication work organises a substantial mix of stories, imagery and institutional content through a defined editorial hierarchy and production-ready page system.
The case study demonstrates content-heavy communication and page craft rather than relying on a cover alone.
Design context
Giving varied stories one publication rhythm.
Different story lengths, image types and information levels had to coexist without making the publication feel fragmented. The page system also had to move reliably from design into print production.
Design approach. Modular grids, defined headline levels and a deliberate image rhythm create structure without making every spread identical. Repeatable content blocks provide consistency while allowing feature pages to carry more visual impact.
Core design system
Editorial structure that supports reading
Typography, column logic, spacing and image treatment work together to guide reading. The system creates clear entry points and a recognisable publication voice across covers, contents and feature material.

Application
Page craft carried through to print artwork
Layouts were prepared as a magazine system with attention to image preparation, page consistency and final print output. Alignment and repeatable details support reliable production across the publication.
